2026 Spring - Softball

The Age Determination Date for a softball player is the actual age of a child on 1 January of the
previous year. 2026 Softball Age Chart. Girls registered in the baseball divisions will use the
baseball age chart to determine league age.

Ages 7-8: Pee Wee Division

  • Coach Pitch Division: Players move up to coach pitch at the Pee Wee Softball level. Batters
are given 7 coach thrown pitches. The focus will be on providing players with a better
understanding of the skills and concepts of the game. Basic skills are refined, and kids will
play all positions. Teams switch offense and defense after 3 outs. There will be at least 1 practice
and 10 games, which will be played during the week and on Saturdays within the
district.

  • Player Pitch Division: Players move up to player pitch at the Pee-Wee Softball level. Batters
are given 7 player-thrown pitches and only swinging strikes are called. There are no balls or
walks at this level, unless player is hit by a pitch. This level is for the more experienced
younger players. The focus is on providing players with a better understanding of the skills
and concepts of the game, including more emphasis on hitting and pitching. Basic skills are
refined, and kids will play all positions with additional coaching on the fundamentals for each
position. Teams switch offense and defense after 3 outs. There will be 2 practices and at
least 10 games, which will be played during the week and on Saturdays. Games will include
both local play and interleague play against other teams in our district. 
 
Ages 8-10: Minor Division
11 inch softballs are used with live pitching and umpires calling Balls, strikes and outs. Kids
move up on field size and stealing bases is allowed. This is the entry into competitive, scored softball
with increased emphasis on basic skills, situation decision making, and teamwork. Umpires &
scorekeeping is introduced. All players must attend Player Evaluation, and a draft
system is used to form teams. There will be a minimum of 2 practices and 12 games scheduled, which will be played
during the week and on Saturdays. Games will be played at Abrams Field, RORC and within the
district.
 
Ages 11-12: Major Division
12 inch softballs are used in this advanced, competitive play division. Emphasis improving the skills learned at previous levels. Situational concepts and strategy become a more involved part of the game.
Scorekeeping, game scores, and standings are kept. All players must attend Player
Evaluation, and a draft system is used to form teams. There will be a minimum of 2 practices & 12 games
scheduled, which will be played during the week and on Saturdays. Games will be played at Abrams
Field, RORC and within the district.

Ages 13-14: Junior Division
Advanced, competitive play add higher skill and strategy to their game. Defensive situations and decision making, base running, bunting, and game strategy become a critical part of the game. All players must attend Player Evaluation. Games will be played at Abrams, RORC and within the district. There will be a minimum of 2 practices & 12 games which will be played during the week and on Saturdays.

Ages 5-6: Tee-Ball Division (Co-Ed)
Provides fundamentals of the game and introduces players to the concept of team play. Batting is off a Tee and soft safety balls are used. Scores are not recorded, and teams switch offense and defense after everyone bats. There will be at least 10 games played on weekdays and/or Saturdays, and generally 1 practice during the week. Coaches request practice times and days, but requested times are not guaranteed. Practices/games get priority for earlier games and Pee-wee field use.

Games will be played at Abrams Field, RORC and within the district.
 
Ages 11-12: Major Division
Advanced, competitive play with more consistent pitching. Emphasis improving the skills learned at previous levels. Situational concepts and strategy become a more involved part of the game. Scorekeeping, pitch counts, game scores, and standings are kept. All players must attend Player Evaluation, and a draft system is used to form teams. There will be a minimum of 12 games scheduled, which will be played during the week and on Saturdays. Games will be played at Abrams Field, RORC and within the district.
 
Age 13: Intermediate Division
Primarily for 13-year-olds as a transition to the regulation size field. All games will be played on a 50' mound and 70' bases (50/70). The Intermediate division is also open to 11 & 12-year-olds wanting to experience a more competitive style of baseball using regulation baseball rules such as leading off and balks. All players must attend Player Evaluation, and a draft system will be used to form teams. If there are not enough players signed up to form teams, we will need to reorganize 11- & 12-year-olds and/or join players with another league for the 13-year-olds. Games will be played at RORC and within the district. Games will be played during the week and on Saturdays.
 
Ages 13-14: Junior Division
Advanced, competitive play on larger field. Players add higher skill and strategy to their game. Defensive situations and decision making, base running, bunting, and game strategy become a critical part of the game. Lead offs are allowed starting at this level. All players must attend Player Evaluation. Games will be played at Abrams, RORC and within the district. There will be a minimum of 12 games which will be played during the week and on Saturdays.
