What to know for RLL Player Evaluations

Player Evaluations for the 2021 Season are scheduled for Saturday March 13^th 2021 at the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex (RORC).

The Evaluations are only for players in the Minor & Major divisions for Baseball and Softball ONLY.

This year, players evaluations will be held for NEW players to these divisions (Minor & Major), and players new to RLL and did NOT evaluate with RLL last season before the shutdown caused by COVID-19.

If your player did a RLL 2020 Evaluation in ANY Minor or Major division, they DO NOT need to evaluate this season.

This does not include the Pee-Wee AA division Evaluation held last season. If your player was registered to the Pee-Wee division last year, and this year is registered in the Minor Division, they player will need to attend evaluations on Saturday March 13^th, 2021.

Tee-Ball and Pee-Wee division players DO NOT need to evaluate.

EVALUATIONS ARE NOT A TRYOUT TO MAKE ANY TEAM, ALL PLAYERS WILL BE PLACED ON A TEAM. THEY ARE SIMPLY A GAUGE OF SCORING THE CURRENT SKILLSET OF PLAYERS TO ALLOW RLL AND COACHES DRAFT AND COMPILE EVENLY MATCHED TEAMS. PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR PLAYER TO BE EXCITED, TO GIVE 100%, AND HAVE FUN!

ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR A FACE COVERING AT ALL TIMES WHILE PARTICIPATING ON THE FIELDS AT RORC AND MAINTAIN 'SOCIAL DISTANCING' SPACE WHILE WAITING TO PARTICIPATE. SPECTATORS ARE ALSO CURRENTLY DISCOURAGED CURRENTLY TO MAINTAIN THE REQUIRED LIMIT OF USERS AT THE FIELD AT A TIME. ONCE YOUR PLAYER HAS FINISHED THE EVALUATION YOU ARE FREE TO LEAVE.

Schedule:

Start time for evaluations: (Please arrive prior to the start times to allow time for Player Check-in.) Please schedule your player to be there on time, and plan on the player being there for the entire scheduled evaluation time for the sport.

10:00am to 12:00pm - Softball (Minor & Major) – Players will be setup into small groups by division to maintain Social Distancing. Evaluations will begin at 10AM with a warm up and stretch directed by RLL Coaches and volunteers. The Evaluation will begin and cycle through the different skill evaluations (Timed run, Fielding, Throwing, Hitting & Pitching).

 12:30pm to 2:30pm - Baseball (Minor & Major) – Players will be setup into small groups by division to maintain Social Distancing. Evaluations will begin at 12:30PM with a warm up and stretch directed by RLL Coaches and volunteers. The Evaluation will begin and cycle through the different skill evaluations (Timed run, Fielding, Throwing, Hitting & Pitching).

What to bring:

• Players should come dressed in athletic apparel as they will be doing athletic activities.
• Required to bring Baseball/Softball Glove (RLL will not have shared gloves available.)
• Required to bring Batting Helmet (RLL will not have shared helmets available.)
• Baseball or Softball bat (RLL will have a limited number of bats to used, that will be sanitized.)
• Suggested, but not required, to wear athletic cleats or turf shoes for use on the RORC Fields.
• Winning attitude and ready to give 100%
